Laji Sanusi is a self-taught artist who creates cultural portraits, currently employing digital art as his medium. His work combines elements of art nouveau and pop art, with clear influences from Jean-Michel Basquiat, Andy Warhol, Alphonse Mucha, Alex Ross and Adam Hughes. His subjects exude a vitality that extends to their surroundings; Sanusi’s backgrounds employ natural imagery, patterning and textural features to create a rich visual experience. He captures the decadence of the roots of Black people and his work covers a range of topics including skin complexion, pregnancy and relationships.
Sanusi has been exhibited in galleries in the United Kingdom and in the USA and his work is privately collected in different countries around the world.
