UNDER A GROOVE

Five Artists. One Cadence. One Groove.

Under a Groove explores how community is expressed through the work of two Ghanaian and three Nigerian contemporary artists. Leaning into the playful rivalry between these neighbouring nations and their cultural rhythms, the exhibition considers how communities nurture identity and how individual voices can find fuller expression within a collective experience. Through painting, mixed media, collage and abstraction, the artists reveal the ways in which kinship, connection and shared histories shape who we are and who we become.

Each artist contributes a distinct voice, yet together they form a collective groove: a cadence of stories, experiences and creative energies that resonate across cultures and generations. The exhibition celebrates the dynamic relationship between self-expression and conformity, showing how community can create space for the individual to flourish rather than be diminished by it.
